Portland Trail Blazers Roster Report 2008-12-11

Portland Trail Blazers Roster Report 2008-12-11
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Steve Blake, Shooting guard Brandon Roy, Small forward Nicolas Batum, Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Center Greg Oden. Bench -- Guard Rudy Fernandez, Center Joel Przybilla, Guard Sergio Rodriguez, Forward Travis Outlaw, Forward Channing Frye.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F LaMarcus Aldridge had one of his biggest games of the season, sinking 12 of 17 shots en route to a 25-point, 13-rebound, two-block performance.

--The Blazers' Spanish connection -- G Sergio Rodriguez and G Rudy Fernandez -- was superb. Rodriguez collected 14 points and seven assists with no turnovers in 25 minutes. Fernandez had 10 points -- including two dunks off Rodriguez lobs -- four rebounds and four assists, the last an over-the-head pass that Aldridge finished with a dunk.

--G Steve Blake called Portland's last timeout when he couldn't inbound the ball near the midcourt line with 53.8 seconds left and the Blazers ahead 108-103. It proved costly in the end. "He knew we had a timeout," McMillan said. "We have to come to the ball and get ourselves open. You prefer to get the ball in, but it's all about executing."

--C Joel Przybilla, who came off the bench for 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes, gets most of the credit for holding down Orlando center Dwight Howard's production, although it should be noted that Howard is dealing with the pain of a pulled stomach muscle. Howard entered the game averaging 21.5 points while leading the NBA in rebounding (14.8) and blocked shots (4.19). He finished with 14 points, seven boards and no blocks.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F-C Raef LaFrentz (shoulder surgery) is rehabbing at his home in Des Moines, Iowa.

--G Martell Webster (foot surgery) is out until at least mid-January.
