--G Brandon Roy will be on the sidelines for up to two months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Aug. 14 to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Roy might be ready for the Blazers' Oct. 28 opener.

--Nate McMillan's three-year commitment to the U.S. Olympic team ends in a couple of weeks. Next summer, "I'm going to hide and get away from basketball for awhile," the Blazer coach joked.

"I'm optimistic, much more so than I was three of four weeks ago," Miller said.
