In his three-year NBA career, Brandon Roy has failed to beat only one team -- the Phoenix Suns.
That is providing extra incentive for the Trail Blazers, who seek to end an 11-game losing streak against the Suns Thursday night at the Rose Garden. "They've kind of bullied us," said Roy of the Suns, who have beaten Portland twice in Phoenix this season. "They've had their way with us for some time. I would love to try to beat them in their building, which would really be a statement game.
"But we play them here (in Portland), and we have to try to beat them wherever we can. We're going to go hard. They're going to be physical. We want to step up and play our best game of the year."
Joel Przybilla said he is looking forward to another matchup with Shaquille O'Neal.
"We lost two really close games at their place," the Portland center said. "This is our gym. We have the fans behind us. This is a big game for us. As long as we do what we are capable of doing, we should come out on top."
TRAIL BLAZERS 109, KINGS 77: Portland (16-10) parried with Sacramento Kings for a quarter, then ran away with the triumph that snapped a three-game losing streak, including two in a row at home after starting the season with a seven-game win streak at the Garden.
"It's good to get back on track by winning a game after a couple of losses in our building," Portland coach Nate McMillan said. "A good effort by our guys."
Roy scored 29 points and went 15-for-15 at the free-throw line, and all 12 Blazers scored in the rout.
Sacramento led 31-28 early in the second quarter, but Portland outscored the Kings 26-11 the rest of the period to go into intermission ahead, 54-42.
"Once we got the lead, we said, 'Don't play the scoreboard. Continue to play and work on our sharpness,'" McMillan said. "And our guys did."
