Portland Trail Blazers Getting Inside 2008-11-19

Portland Trail Blazers Getting Inside 2008-11-19
It's home, sweet home for the Trail Blazers on Wednesday against

Chicago. Portland won three of five games on the road since their last

date at the Rose Garden on Nov. 8 against Minnesota.

The Blazers (6-5) go back on the road for two more games after

Wednesday night, so they're going to try to enjoy the short home stay.

"We've got such a tough stretch to start the season, we need to

take advantage of our few home games," Portland coach Nate McMillan

said. "We have to win as many of those as we can."

Chicago (5-6) is coming off a 116-109 loss to the Lakers in L.A.

Tuesday night. Wednesday's game will showcase the top picks in the

last two drafts -- Portland's Greg Oden (2007) and Chicago's Derrick

Rose (2008). Rose contributed 25 points and nine assists against the

Lakers.

WARRIORS 111, BLAZERS 106: A couple of plays down the stretch

proved the difference as Golden State prevailed in Oakland.

Portland was sensational from three-point range (.545 on 12-of-22)

but committed a season-high 21 turnovers, and the Warriors turned them

into 22 points. The other big statistical factor was free-throw

shooting, where Golden State was a remarkable 33-of-35 (.943) while

the Blazers were 20-of-29 (.690).

"We had our chances down the stretch, but they made the plays and

we didn't," said McMillan, whose team led the NBA in fewest turnovers

going into the game. "You can't give the ball up that many times and

expect to win a game."
