Portland Trail Blazers Getting Inside 2008-11-11
Now that the Trail Blazers have their first road victory of the season, they're thinking they can turn their current four-game trip into a rousing success.

The second stop is Wednesday at Miami against a Heat team the Blazers swept two games from a year ago.

It'll be a matchup of premier NBA shooting guards -- All-Stars Brandon Roy of Portland and Dwyane Wade of Miami. Wade scored 37 points in a 98-91 loss last January, the most points ever scored by a Heat player against the Blazers.

"He's one of the best players in the league," Roy said of Wade. "It's going to be a big challenge."

TRAIL BLAZERS 106, MAGIC 99: The Blazers had three players hit the 20-point mark for the first time this season and did a defensive number on Orlando's Dwight Howard in the second half.

Brandon Roy scored 27 points and Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake added 20 apiece as the Blazers notched their first road win after three losses.

"It was a gut check for our guys," coach Nate McMillan said. "They came ready to play and scrapped hard. Orlando's a tough team. We hadn't won here since I've been in Portland. The guys showed they really wanted the game tonight."

A key to the victory was the way the Blazers defended Orlando's Dwight Howard in the second half. Howard ravaged the Blazers for 23 points and 12 rebounds in the first half but had only six points and seven boards in the final two quarters.

"Joel (Przybilla), L.A. (LaMarcus Aldridge), Channing (Frye) -- those guys clamped down on Howard, and we did a pretty good job coming with help," Blake said.
