PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Former Portland Trail Blazers star Maurice Lucas has undergone surgery for bladder cancer.

The 57-year-old Lucas is now an assisant coach on the team he helped lead to the 1977 NBA title. The team said he had surgery Tuesday and will need six to eight weeks to recover.
Lucas was a four-time All-Star and starting forward during the Blazers' title season. He became an assistant to Portland coach Nate McMillan in 2005.
